Congratulations to Norm Duke. He defeated Mika Koivumeimi 224-216 to win the 65th US Open. Duke takes away $100,000 dollars and a three year exemption to the Denny's PBA Tour. This is Duke’s 28th career Denny’s PBA Tour title and fourth Major. With this victory he also completes bowling's triple crown.

2008 PBA Heroes and Legends Trading Cards

    Saturday, January 19, 2008, 10:46 AM [General]

This week, Rittenhouse Archives announced that they will release new PBA trading cards in March. The PBA Bowling Heroes and Legends Trading Cards will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Professional Bowlers Association. There will be two base sets. A 59 card set will feature the 2007-2008 exempt roster and a 25 card set will feature PBA legends.

This year, there will be 77 autographs to collect and they will span the entire history of the PBA. The rarest cards will be a "Quad" autograph card featuring Parker Bohn III, Mark Roth, Pete Weber and Walter Ray Williams Jr. There will also be two very limited "archive cut" autograph cards featuring Don Johnson and **** Weber. To produce archive cut autograph cards, the manufacturer obtains signatures from documents the bowler signed before they passed away (checks, contracts, ect.) They then mount these signatures inside a special card. This gives the fan a chance to obtain an authentic "autograph" from someone who is no longer with us.

Suggested retail price is $120.00 for a box of eight packs. However, each pack is guaranteed to contain an autographed card. The cards are set to hit the market in mid March. You can pre-order PBA Bowling Heroes and Legends by going to pbatradingcards.com. I will pass along more details as they become available to me.

Friday Night's League: Back Above 600

    Sunday, April 15, 2007, 08:09 AM [Sports]

There are about 5 weeks left in my winter league and my team went into Friday night in 7th place. 7th is not too bad right right now, considering just 11 points separate 1st and 7th place. Our league works on the 7 point system, 2 points per game won and 1 point for total pins. The good news is that we swept the other team and took home 7 points. Theoretically, if the first place team lost all three games, that puts us 3 points out of first place. Teams 2 through 6 had to have a less than perfect night too. At any rate, the last four weeks look to be very interesting.

In addition to my team sweeping, I also fixed some things in my game. I bowled a 600 series for the first time in about six weeks. A couple of times in the last six weeks I even bowled below 500, I knew I had to fix something. My swing mechanics were really messed up but I didn't have time to practice to work on it. That changed this week, I practiced ten games throughout the week and I got my push away and my footwork fixed. While I didn't shoot the lights out, I was pretty consistent. I bowled 212-201-208 for a 621. Hopefully I can keep this up for the rest of the season. Friday is a mixed league and it's my girlfriend's first full league. I hope we win the league for her sake.
